Spring has Sprung!

Ahh spring is in the air! The birds are chirping the bees are a buzzing and some neighbors cat keeps taking a crap in my yard. When we first moved in to our house I had some serious yard pride. We came from a town home with no back yard and the owners didn’t want my kids toys in the front courtyard area. (Apparently this area is just for looks and not actual enjoyment.)

The first time we mowed our yard we sat all four of us in the back on the grass, marveling at our very own personal outdoor space. Like kids we rolled around playing and taking in the smell of fresh cut lawn.  Then the cat came. Now don’t go thinking I have something against cats as I have been a pet owner and love the cat personality. But when your dropping bombs in my yard that is preventing me from letting my 12 month old from exploring her garden then we are going to have a problem. I don’t like stepping in it OR having to smell it when I leave my windows open.  For awhile I took to announcing whenever I found a turd surprise, “OH look some more cat shit in my yard and now I get to clean it up!” but my husband didn’t like the idea of me proclaiming this for all our church going neighbors to hear. I had to come up with another plan. I consulted a few cat owners. They all gave me the water in a spray bottle advise. Good plan I admit but am I really going to stand in my back yard like some snipper waiting to pounce on Heathcliff?  No. Soooooo it continues. I might do what Betty suggested and put a litter box in the back yard.
